Membership
The Ontario Renters for Fair Housing Coalition is a province-wide network uniting Tenant Associations (TAs) and tenant advocates to challenge the financialization of renters and put renters back at the center of decision-making in the buildings and communities we call home.
We are excited to launch our membership program for Ontario TAs and tenant advocates.

Why Membership Matters
Membership is about equipping communities with the tools, knowledge, and connections they need to defend tenants’ rights and push for housing justice across Ontario.
One of the most pressing issues facing renters is Above Guideline Increases (AGIs). AGIs are not only a major driver of financial hardship, but also a powerful organizing and advocacy tool when challenged collectively. With the right resources, Tenant Associations can often save their tenants hundreds of thousands of dollars on just one AGI.
For example, the High Park Tenants’ Association has successfully removed over $10.5 million in ineligible capital expenditures over the last two decades, directly protecting renters’ homes and incomes.
AGIs are just one example of the urgent issues we can take on when we pool our collective expertise and resources. Together, we can reverse the financialization of housing and put tenants back at the center of decision-making.
